Weehawken Water Tower

Challenge

The most challenging aspect of this project job was fabrication of the steel framing along the upper roof level that inevitably supports the new 25’0” flagpole. In addition, the tapestry brick detail which was deteriorating required restoring.

Solution

A pipe frame scaffolding system containing a hoist system was constructed along the interior from grade up to the underside of the structural wood deck system. The new steel framing was fabricated and set in place. The exterior tapestry brick detail was accented with black Kiem paint that aesthetically defines the towers beauty. Paragon fabricated and installed new finials which were set at the top of the stair tower and roof peak. Restoration techniques were applied to the existing bluestone, brownstone and granite. All facades were completely cleaned.
